Blogging Tools

For the most part of the day I have been trying out different blog posting tools. So far all have fallen below my expectations. I anyone can suggest software that will allow updating AND retrieving pages from my blog for editing, I would appreciate them letting me know about it. So far it seems that most of the tools are site dependent.
